The Street Fighter franchise is now over 30 years old and in that Capcom produced some iconic and ground breaking games in the series. Most of the games are well known, including the spin off and the special editions. Capcom certainly kept the money coming in with Street Fighter series. Here are the best Street Fighter games.
Hyper Street Fighter II: Anniversary Edition
This happens to be the sixth and final version of Street Fighter II released for arcade gaming as well as consoles. Released during 2003 it takes the best parts from the previous versions of the games and makes the gameplay even better. There are several versions of each character you can opt to play as.
The Street Fighter Alpha 3
The Alpha sub series are prequels to the Street Fighter II games, which featured notably younger anime versions of the leading characters. Alpha 3 is generally the fans’ favorite as it includes all of the characters from Street Fighter II. It is an enjoyable game, just do not try and work out how it fits in with the events in Street Fighter.
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
True to form Capcom did not release a single version of Street Fighter III, they released a few, all slightly different from the other. The super animation and the dream like smooth handling offered by it’s mechanics of 3rd Strike make it the best of all the variants.
Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
This was Capcom’s experiment with 3D gaming, and to be fair it was a good effort. While it does not reach the heights of the 2D versions it is definitely superior to the really poor 3D versions of Tekken.
Street Fighter V
Unusually for the franchise Capcom have not made any different versions of Street Fighter V and they delayed releasing the extra features for this game until several months after it’s launch. Despite Capcom not making too much of an effort with this game it is still popular with fans of the series. The graphics are really good and the gameplay is a great deal of fun.
Marvel vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes
This was the second installment of Marvel against Capcom after the first game proved so popular in 1996. New Age of Heroes was released on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 and players loved the chance to battle Marvel and Capcom characters against each other. You pick three characters from each to battle things out and there are 56 characters to choose from. Later this game was made available for Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers
Now this game was made with very little effort from Capcom when it released this game for the Nintendo Switch. Despite the lack of effort Ultra Street Fighter II has still sold well on the Switch. It is basically a revamped version of Super Street Fighter II: HD Remix.
When last game in the series is worth a mention, for all the wrong reasons. That is the really terrible Street Fighter: The Movie. It must be the worst game Capcom have ever made. Those are the best Street Fighter games.
